I was going for somewhere between "knows it exists" and "can vaguely guess at the genre or type with some accuracy", actually. (I have a habit of asking the people who are non-fannish and older enough to have seen the sources of older fandoms if they've seen them, for reactions, and the most common reaction is "the Man from wha?")
